About Us

At this stage, MNSoftware.co.za consists just of one person, namely Mark Nicol. It is, however, anticipated that additional human resources will be needed soon to help with the development of our software products and to satisfy the demands of our growing list of clients looking for customised software development.

Mark Nicol

Mark Nicol is a 52 year-old IT professional with a wealth of work experience. He graduated from Wits University in Johannesburg in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree with Computer Science and Mathematics as major subjects. Since then he has been working in IT at a variety of sites both locally and abroad as a permanent employee and as a contractor. The industries in which he has worked during this time include:-

  • online gambling
  • IT services

He has been involved in both one-man projects and as part of small to medium size development teams. At some stage or another, he has played the role of analyst, designer, developer, team leader, mentor and consultant. He has worked on mainframe, midrange and PC hardware platforms. He has extensive experience with the Windows, Unix and MVS operating systems. He is well-skilled in the following programming languages and database management systems:-

In June 2003, he obtained the Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform 1.4 certification and in July 2004 he obtained the Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) certification for the .NET platform. He is, therefore, more than adequately qualified not just to provide a quality solution for you for the .NET platform but also to support a solution for the Java platform should you so require.

He has been a paid-up Member of the Computer Society of South Africa since the mid 1980's.
